KORDA's Kamakura Wide Gape X is a stepped version of this classic pattern, with thicker wire, but with a much sharper, finer point than the standard 'X' hook. You will likely need to replace your hook after every fish you catch because the points are so delicate. It has a slightly inverted eye, with a short shaft, a heavily forged bend and a beaked tip. It can be used with a wide variety of different pop-up and bottom bait presentations, and once it goes in, it stays in. The points are protected by a dollop of wax that must be carefully removed before use, and they come in a box that holds each individual hook securely in place.
