The Mini Heli Safe from KORDA is a mini copy of the well-known Heli Safe. Heli Safe: We spent a long time working on a solution to a problem that carp anglers couldn't find a good solution for. How do you, if necessary, drop the lead on a helicopter setup? And we have now come up with a solution for that. One of the circumstances where you want to combine a helicopter system with dropping lead is fishing with chod rigs at great distances. The combination of a large and heavy casting lead in combination with the extremely short hooklengths ensures an increased number of releases. Something that you naturally want to limit as much as possible. On the other hand, there are also waters that are so densely overgrown with weed that dropping the lead or, for example, a lead substitute is often the only safe way to drill a fish among all the greenery. Something that could not previously be combined with helicopter or chod rigs without even having to tinker with all kinds of means. The Heli Safety System is the result of the demand for a ready-made product that meets this requirement. Korda's head of product development, Tom Dove, explains why there was a need for such a niche product. “For a long time, many people have been using helicopter rigs for much of their seaweed fishing. Especially with chod rigs. The problem, however, is that the lead often collects a lot of weed during the fight and this only increases the chance of a lost fish. Of course, you should not lose your lead under all circumstances. But when there is a lot of weed, it is often the only and safest option. The Heli Safe System makes it possible to drop your lead if the conditions demand it. In collaboration with our unique Helicopter Safety System and the No-Trace Beads you can use a safe mounting that will certainly lead to fewer wasted fish. The system works through a pressure release feature that we have not seen before in angling. The lead clip opens the moment a fish pulls on the line, making it possible to drop the lead in a safe manner. By mounting a Barrel Bead above the system, you ensure that the lead remains in contact with weed during rotation and any contact with weed. During a fight, this bead will slide down and the Heli Safe will drop the lead. Tom talks about the new possibilities that the system makes available to everyone. Using heavy lead in combination with chod rigs has always been a problem. But because we are now sure that we can drop the lead, we don't have to worry about that anymore. After hooking the fish, we don't have unnecessary ballast on the line. The system makes it possible to throw chod rigs at very long distances, without having to use PVA or soluble foams as you have seen before. And that is certainly something special that we are very proud of. The unique design allows the angler to choose when to lose their lead and when not to. In situations where it is not necessary, we recommend that you fix the lead with an extra part supplied, in order to prevent unnecessary lead loss.
